SEATTLE FESTIVAL OF DANCE + IMPROVISATION

PERFORMANCE COHORTS

JULY 14 – AUGUST 3, 2024

The PERFORMANCE Cohorts are immersive summer dance experiences for dancers of all ages and levels from beginning through professional.

Immerse yourself in three weeks of daily dance and movement training that will build your dance skills and connect you to your body and community. Daily classes with awesome and supportive local and national faculty will build stamina, movement skills, and artistry.

Then you’ll bring those skills into a new dance creation process led by cohort choreographer, culminating in final performances to share with friends, family, and the wider Seattle dance community. Whether you’re a dancer looking to connect and get your start in the Seattle dance scene, or someone who has never tried dance but always wanted to, we can’t wait to move with you this summer!

WHAT ARE PERFORMANCE COHORTS?

We call levels “cohorts” to get at the group dynamic and relationships created at SFD+I. Your cohort will be your team over the three-week program. You’ll take class together while you co-create a new dance piece with a choreographer. Then you’ll share the excitement of being onstage together in the theater, performing what you made together.

We’ve indicated the general level of dance experience each cohort is designed for, but reach out to us if you have questions or need help picking your cohort.

What is Discord?
Discord is a voice, video, and text chat app that’s used by tens of millions of people ages 13+ to talk and hang out with their communities and friends.
People use Discord daily to talk about many things, ranging from art projects and family trips to homework and mental health support. It’s a home for communities of any size, but it’s most widely used by small and active groups of people who talk regularly.
The vast majority of servers are private, invite-only spaces for groups of friends and communities to stay in touch and spend time together. There are also larger, more open communities, generally centered around specific topics such as popular games like Minecraft and Fortnite. Users have control over whom they interact with and what their experience on Discord is.
People love Discord because it’s a home for all their communities and groups of friends. It’s a place where they can be themselves and spend time with other people who share their interests and hobbies. Conversations on Discord are driven by the people you choose and the topics you choose to talk about.
